Our aim is to make the stay of all our guests as enjoyable and safe as possible.
To this effect, we have established the following practices which we hope you
will familiarize yourself with and agree to follow:
You need both a
Provincial Fishing Permit and a Fishing Right of Access to fish within the
limits of the La Verendrye Wildlife Reserve. The cost of the Provincial Fishing
Permit varies according to residency and the number of fishing days. The cost of
the Fishing Right of Access is $17.00 per day per permit holder or $92.50 per
week per permit holder. Both can be purchased at our office. The price is
established by the Wildlife Reserve and it is subject to change without
notice.
Camp fires are strictly forbidden. Some of our cabins
are over 60 years old and when you consider the uniqueness of our assets, you
will appreciate the risks of camp fires.
Our guests are on vacation and
are here to relax. To respect the peaceful environment our guests expect, we ask
that the noise be kept to a minimum at all times and especially after 11 pm.
Most animals are scavengers and as such, are attracted to garbage. To
prevent this as much as possible, please dispose of garbage in the provided
garbage containers, place the lid on the containers and leave them outside. We
collect the garbage on a daily basis.
The road leading to our boat
launch can easily get congested. To prevent long waiting periods at the boat
launch it is preferable that you prepare your boat for launching along side
highway 117, prior to driving down to the boat launch.
Often our
cottages are required to be ready for occupancy shortly after they have been
vacated. In order to allow our cleaning staff to properly prepare cottages for
arriving guests, we ask that departing guests vacate cottages no later than 9
a.m. Arriving guests will be permitted to occupy their cottage upon their
arrival if possible or as soon as it is ready (about 2 p.m.).
Bears and
other animals are attracted by fish carcasses. Our site includes an indoor fish
cleaning station (fish house) which we urge you to use as opposed to cleaning
the fish at your cottage. The fish house is located beside the office.
There are 8 docks at your disposal. Docking is on a first come first served
basis and we ask that when you are the first to park at any dock, you do so at
either end of the dock and not at the centre.
For those cottages not
equipped with hot water, public showers are located at cottage #16. There are
two separate and private showers.
Our reservoir contains Northern Pike
and Walleye. The size and catch limits are regulated by Provincial laws and are
as follows: You are authorized to have no more than 6 Pike and 6 Walleye in your
possession at any time. Walleye shorter than 30 cm (12 ¼ inches) must be
released back into the water. There are no size restrictions for Northern Pike.
Self-adhesive rulers are available at the office.
If an electrical
storm develops in the vicinity, we may have to temporarily interrupt the power
until the storm dissipates. If such is the case we ask that you use the water
cautiously until the power is restored.
